Beslan Update

For the last several days, news outlets such as the BBC and some domestic networks and papers have downplayed any outside involvement in the recent masacre in Beslan. Even though initial reports clearly stated that 10 of the homicide terrorists involved were Arab nationals of one nationality or another, the Beeb insisted that witness could not remember ever seeing an Arab murderer-rapist in with the rest of the captors.

As far as these sources were concerned, this was an entirely domestic problem, entirely the fault of Putin and Russia.

Of course, not only was this a simplistic view of the masacre, it was completely inaccurate.

Russian officials said authorities have determined that 10 of the 32 suicide attackers who took over a high school in Beslan in North Ossetia last week were nationals from several Arab countries. Most of the attackers were Chechens and Ingush who had been trained at Al Qaida camps in Afghanistan.

According to the World Tribune, the head of the Chechen "insurgency", Shamil Basayev received funding from the Sauds for years, and utilized these funds for the employment of hundreds of homicide bombers and other terrorists for use within Chechnya and other former Soviet republics.

But no. Not according to the Beeb. No Arabs here. Move along, nothing to see here.

On one "happy" note:

All of the captors were said to have been killed, but three accomplices were arrested, Middle East Newsline reported.

And those accomplices? From the photo I saw of one of them on the Reuters/AP photowire, he's scared shitless. He should be. Russia has no Gitmo, no high-priced and unscrupulous lawyers bidding for the opportunity to make names for themselves by falling all over each other in an attempt to represent terrorists, no 9th Circuit protecting the rights of murderers over innocents.

He should be terrified. Better yet, he should be dead.

Update: You need to avail yourselves of these photos before they disappear into the cyber abyss. This is what awaited those parents in the aftermath. Thank you, Darth Monkeybone, for that link.

From one of the news accounts, the one whose photo was released was yelling "By Allah, I don't want to die!" No sh*t, Sherlock! How about all the kids? Did they WANT to die? No, they didn't. You deserve whatever you get.

The Russians shouldn't waste another second on his worthless life and set the example by rolling out the log and lopping his head off in public. They should all be buried in a pit amongst a pile of pig entrails to grease their passage to Allah.

Sadly, it seems that blame lies with the US government...as usual. *Insert eye-rolling here*

Don't worry - by the time you read this he'll either be dead or still being "Questioned" about who else may have been involved, where the money and weapons came from, etc. Does anyone remember the American cops in the 50's, when they'd take a juvinile offender behind the building and kick his ass instead of giving him a criminal record? Russian cops are like that - but with NO restrictions!

By what I saw this morning, there may still be 150 people unaccounted for.

And Kerry reckons that the War on Terrorism is the wrong war. Astounding.

I just returned from taking my two nieces, ages 7 & 9, home after spending the weekend with me. They started school last week.

I had to covertly watch the news while they were here. Can you guess where my thoughts have gone this weekend while they swam in the sun, played tea party all Saturday afternoon, and drew me sweet little pictures with hearts and flowers all over them?

I can't imagine the helpless, hopeless emotions of those families or the horrors of those held captive and killed. I just can't imagine.

I take my only comfort fom this appalling event from the reports that the Russian parents armed with their hunting rifles and shotguns stood alongside the police and military in the rescue, and that 3 (maybe) terrorists were captured and lynched on the spot by these same civilians.

An eye for an eye, and justice served in a small measure.

I hope to God that I never see images of small children in body bags ever, ever again.

After viewing the pictures of the children and seeing what these creatures did I don't want to see them killed outright. I think they should live in as much pain as can be inflicted without driving them into system overload and unconciousness. I want them to beg for death as a release. I want to hear them scream for death. It's still not enough.

That's just me, I suppose. Killing is too good for them.
