Jawja Blogfest

Well, I'm going to be doing something I never imagined I'd ever do: I'm going to the Jawja Blogfest.

I can hardly wait, and I've got almost 2 months for exactly that. The darned thing doesn't even happen until October 15 and 16. I have to wait that long to meet what I've been told are some of the nicest people in Georgia.

Hardly seems fair, does it, mean old me in the midst of Southern Hospitality? Acidman, Velociman, StraightWhiteGuy, Dax Montana, and a host of others are supposed to be there. I don't think I'll mind a bit being the Token Hoosier. Hell, I may never come back home.

And I've been promised Boiled Peanuts. I may even get to sample some, er, Home Made Wine from a mason jar. This definitely merits a pedicure complete with Street Walker Red nail polish.

Damn, I'd beter start brushing up on my Patsy Cline songs. Two months away! I hate that.

...hey, Mama... have you communicated with Kim about getting your lodging squared away?.. if you haven't, you should do so post haste... rooms are at a premium in Helen that week.... oh, and don't worry, we're all going to have a load of fun... I promise... what Cline song do you want me to be brushing up my guitar playing on?..

Mama, learn up about chiggers, vicious little beasties they are. Hope you have fun, I enjoyed every minute of my time in the south, 'cept for chiggers.

Oh, Jack, I know all about Chiggers. We have them here in Hoosierland, too. Nothing a little clear nail polish won't fix. Kills those little bastards.

Now when you start blogging and organize a Washington Blogfest, I'll come up there! You've got some good bloggers in your corner of the 48.

Actually, Neil, I was in Helen, GA once, probably 15 yrs ago or so. And it is pretty in those hills. I'm looking forward to sitting at that restaurant that has the deck over the river and enjoying the fall.

And I'm not taking my laptop, either. No blogging at the Blogfest. I will, however, have my camera. Hmmm... That datacard holds a thousand pics... Think that will be enough?
